Bridge Street Golf at Snipes Farm

Golf course

The golf course attached to Snipes Farm has a new name, new owners and, beginning this spring, some new twists on a long-played game.

In 2019 Jeff Pine joined Mike Moser as co-owner of the golf course, now named Bridge Street Golf at Snipes Farm. The business features two miniature golf courses, golf lessons, a pitch and putt par 3 course and a driving range. During the summer months, golf camp is available for youth ages 7 to 14. Camp features lessons on the fundamentals of the game; chipping, putting and etiquette; how to enjoy the game; and how to play in a competition setting.

“You can teach rules or etiquette while they’re having fun on the miniature golf course,” Moser said.

Owners

In addition to bringing in new customers to enjoy these old favorites, Pine, an electrician by trade, and Moser, who has worked at the golf course since age 14 and owned it the last 13 years, are looking to pump new life into what they call a “dying sport.”

This spring, Bridge Street Golf will begin offering cosmic golf on the weekends. To play, golfers would use glow golf balls to hit targets on the driving range.

“They look like flying saucers,” Pine said. “These things are interactive.”

Other ideas include adding a DJ on cosmic golf nights to play music from inside an inflatable bubble.

When warmer weather arrives, Bridge Street Golf is also planning to bring back its glow golf on the miniature golf courses during weekends.

Pine and Moser are looking to up their game for birthday parties, fundraisers and corporate events as well. Planned upgrades include landscaping and the addition of tables, chairs and couches outside. Currently, events are held under tents and seating is available at picnic tables.

The owners are also considering expanding their food offerings at Par 3 Grill to include more than its current menu of hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream and water ice.

Following the popularity of indoor entertainment centers and trampoline parks for kids, Moser said he’s looking at ways for Bridge Street Golf to package several activities into one discounted bundle. That way, families could enjoy an all-day experience for a relatively low price.

Moser wants to split the pitch and putt to offer nine holes of pitch and putt and the remaining nine holes of soccer and frisbee golf. Instead of typical golf balls, players would use soccer balls and their feet to move the ball into the extra big holes, thus the name footgolf. In frisbee golf, players throw a disc or frisbee from a tee area to a target. In all instances, the goal is for the ball or frisbee to reach the hole in the fewest number of kicks or throws.

In the summer and fall months, Bridge Street Golf plans to revamp its miniature golf courses with inflatables featuring different themes. In the fall, Halloween themed inflatables will rule the course.

The golf course offers periodic customer appreciation nights and has a text message loyalty program that’s so popular that Moser said he sometimes gets too good of a response from the weekly offers.

To get the mostly seasonal business on par, Pine and Moser said growing the existing customer base is key.

Pine said he is up to the challenge.

“It’s a nice idea to retire and do something like this,” Pine said. “I play golf all the time.”
