Falls Supervisors OK New Life at Busy Intersection

The Falls Township Supervisors helped to breathe new life into closed businesses at the intersection of Oxford Valley Road and Lincoln Highway.

The governing body unanimously granted preliminary and final land development approval for construction of a Patient First medical center at 100 Lincoln Highway, where a McDonald’s and gas station previously operated.

Supervisor Chairman Bob Harvie said he had concerns about adding traffic at what is already an incredibly busy intersection. Compared to the traffic generated by the McDonald’s and gas station, he said the amount of traffic that Patient First expects to generate “is pretty negligible.”

A Patient First representative told the Supervisors that the urgent care facilities, which operate from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week, see approximately 60 patients a day early on and eventually 120 per day as the facility becomes established. At peak times, about 14 patients come into the facility, which accepts walk-in patients for a variety of ailments, including routine injuries and illnesses. Patient First offers onsite X-rays, lab tests and prescription drugs for patients who are being seen.

The medical facilities are meant to take the strain out of hospital emergency rooms, officials said.

“I’m just glad to see something being done with that property,” Supervisor Brian Galloway said.

Before the 7,151-square-foot facility can be built, the McDonald’s and gas station must be demolished. The Patient First facility will have 37 parking spaces, a new stormwater management system and landscaping. A Patient First developer said the Falls Township neighborhood medical center will be the 16th such facility in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area.
