Supervisors OK Expansion of Recycling Facility

The Falls Township Board of Supervisors is doing its part to recycle precious metals and metal from old computers and telephones.

The board this week granted final land development approval for phase two of Abington Reldan Metals, LLC’s final land development plan.

The roughly 10-acre business, which is located at 550 Old Bordentown Road, in addition to recycling phones and computers, also smelts metal to refine the metal contained.

The company, which built a 56,000-square-foot first phase, was seeking an amendment to its previously approved phase two plan, which had been approved in 2007. Under the modified plan, Abington Reldan Metals intends to break phase two into three phases.

The revised phase two improvements will consist of the construction of two building additions with associated parking, driveways and minor storm sewer realignment.

Other planned improvements include two small addition offices and first floor locker rooms, as well as an expansion to the office area on the second floor. On the southerly end, plans call for the addition of a connector piece and small addition, approximately 10,000 square feet of building.

The business also plans to add an additional loading dock so trucks no longer have to come in and wait to be unloaded.
