New Falls Road Sidewalk Project Set for 2016

Concerned with the added cost of receiving only one bid for the New Falls Road sidewalk, the Falls Supervisors rejected the lone proposal and opted to save money by rebidding the project.

The $306,746 bid was nearly twice the amount budgeted. The township engineer said the project could be done for under $200,000. The market is flooded with similar work, which caused many area contractors to be too busy to bid on the sidewalk project.

The governing body intends to rebid the work in November with construction tentatively set to being in March.

Plans include adding concrete curb, concrete sidewalk, handicapped ramps and detectable warning surfaces, asphalt sidewalk, as well as crosswalks and crosswalk signs along New Falls Road.
