Falls Township is comprised of several departments which include Administration, Code Enforcement and Zoning, Finance, Fire Marshal's Office, Parks & Recreation, Police and the Public Works department. Departments work in conjunction with each other which assures the Township will run efficiently and effectively. Listed below is a summary of departmental responsibilities within the Township.
The Township Manager's Office, which includes Administration, oversees all departments within Falls Township. Some of the responsibilities of the Township Manager duties include, but are not limited to, developing, promulgating, enforcing, and implementing administrative and personnel practices and procedures for all departments. Enforce procedures and policies of the township and its departments for the coordination, compiling, editing and prompt dissemination and release of public information. The Township Manager prepares the annual township operating and capital budgets to be considered and adopted by the Board of Supervisors.
The Falls Township Code Enforcement Department is dedicated to the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and visitors of the Township. The Code Enforcement Department administers the International Codes, PA. Dept. of Labor And Industry Codes, and Township ordinances and regulations as adopted by the Township Supervisors. Codes, regulations, and ordinances are created to protect citizens, and property, keeping Falls Township a safe place to live, work, play, and visit.
The Finance Department oversees and administers financial policies and procedures, receives and has control of all Township cash receipts for deposit in approved depositories and controls the disbursement of all Township funds. The Finance department is responsible for processing payroll for all Township employees, handles payroll withholdings and reporting to all appropriate agencies, maintains the Township's accounting system and records all financial transactions. They also maintain and provide budgetary information for all departments and control expenditures to ensure department budgets are not exceeded.
The Fire Marshal's Office is responsible for conducting inspections of buildings, homes, hazardous materials, and licensing. Fire Inspectors determine if buildings and homes meet fire codes of various types adopted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The Fire Marshal's office reviews plans and specifications for proposed buildings and structures, issue joint building permits with the Building department when plans are approved, and conducts fire & life safety inspections of such buildings and structures. They coordinate with the Building department when issuing Certificates of Occupancy when all appropriate inspections have been approved.
Parks & Recreation strives to maintain Falls Township as a wonderful community by providing activities and events for everyone of all ages. Some of the activities that bring our community together include the Family Festival/Que for the Troops event that takes place in June of each year, fishing derby, Pinewood pool, summer camp, Senior center, Teen advisory panel, Falls Township Community Park and much, much more!
The Falls Township Police Department believes that the protection of life, property and the preservation of peace are the primary goals of our organization. We recognize our responsibility to deliver a feeling of security to our citizens by providing quality Police services while protecting each individual's constitutional rights.
The Public Works Department is responsible for a great many tasks, including over 85 miles of Township dedicated streets and their maintenance, road repairs, drainage, signage and snow removal. The Department is also responsible for all Township street lighting, traffic and school signals, drainage basins, pipes and ditches, mowing, all Township parks, the Township building and grounds and maintenance of all Township vehicles.
