A standing-room-only crowd gathered at Monday’s Falls Township Supervisors’ meeting in protest of the Amazon data center under construction at the Keystone Trade Center.
Plans to construct the data center were finalized at a Falls Township Board of Supervisors public meeting in March 2025. Construction is near completion. Yet, several residents who spoke asked the Falls Supervisors to pause construction and enact a moratorium on data centers.
A petition opposing the data center began to circulate in May and now has signatures from 3,800 people, speakers told the board. Several who spoke relayed fears over skyrocketing water and electric rates given the surge in utilities stemming from the data center, while others voiced concerns over purported environmental impacts.
Officials hope to allay fears and provide answers to these, and other questions related to the planned data center during a July 14 meeting at Pennsbury High School East, which is located at 705 Hood Boulevard, Fairless Hills. The town hall meeting will feature presentations from PECO, Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and Amazon, followed by questions. The meeting will be held from 6-8 p.m.
