Mission

Mission BBQ, a quick-service chain restaurant, plans to open a new location in Falls Township in July 2022.

The Falls Township Board of Supervisors, during Monday’s meeting, approved a waiver of land development for Mission BBQ to reuse roughly half of the former 8,885-square-foot former Pier 1 store, which is situated between Commerce Boulevard and Oxford Valley Road as a fast-food restaurant.

Mission BBQ will also have 510-square-foot covered outdoor eating area added to the northeast side of the building.

An “unidentified retailer” will use the remaining space in the Pier 1 store, according to Mission BBQ attorney Roger Sullivan.

The 10-year-old restaurant chain offers walk-in, takeout and dine-in food service, Sullivan said. Curbside pickup is available for social distancing and customer convenience, he added.

“We should probably make a road trip down to a Mission BBQ and check it out before this one opens,” Supervisor Chairman Jeff Dence said.

In other business, the board voted unanimously to adopt an ordinance to prohibit the burning of recyclable material, including aluminum, bimetal containers, ferrous containers, glass, magazines, newspapers, plastics, or any other recyclable material.

The Supervisors also set the wheels in motion for a new Wawa planned for Lincoln Highway to begin construction. As Wawa awaits approval from the Department of Environmental Protection, the company asked Falls to authorize construction. On Monday night, the board approved an indemnification and hold harmless agreement that, according to Falls attorney Mike Clarke allows Wawa to “begin at their own risk.”

“The township is indemnified from allowing them to begin this project,” Clarke said.

The Wawa store is planned for where Arosso, a Touch of Sicily was previously located.
