Falls Township’s fifth annual Touch a Truck fundraiser, which was held recently, was bigger and better than years past, featuring even more large trucks, excavators, towing vehicles, utility trucks, mowers, emergency response vehicles, fire trucks, fuel trucks, construction vehicles and heavy machinery.

In addition to more vehicles, 2022 Touch a Truck raised a record-breaking $20,200 for The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial aid to families throughout the Delaware Valley who are in need due to recent tragedy or adversity. In all, Falls Township’s Touch a Truck, through its generous sponsors, has contributed more than $50,000 to the Foundation over the last several years.

“Throughout COVID 19, we were reminded by many social workers who we work with throughout the year that we were one of the only charities they refer families to who were able to provide support to families without any interruption during that two-year span though the pandemic,” said The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation Executive Director Mike Barnes. “In my humble opinion, we look too far for the good in this world when it is right in front of us.”

Last year’s Touch a Truck fundraiser generated $13,000 in charitable donations. Despite having to cancel the 2020 event because of the pandemic, many of the sponsors agreed to have their contributions donated to The Barkann Family Healing Hearts Foundation anyway.

Spearheaded by Falls Township Supervisor Vice Chairman Jeff Boraski and the township’s Parks and Recreation Department, Touch a Truck provides a unique opportunity for children to learn more about how the various vehicles on display serve as first response, construction, farming, manufacturing and more.

In addition to generous contributions from returning and new sponsors, the event’s success was made possible through the hard work of Falls Township staff and volunteers.

Event sponsors for the 2022 Touch a Truck event are: Trash Daddy, Rudolph Clarke, LLC, Premium Excavating, Jones Engineering Associates, CLC Contractors, Yard Truck Specialists, Waste Management, IBEW Local 269, B. Blair Corp, Costello Fuel, Carr & Duff, Armour & Sons, Riley Electric, T&M Fuel, Britton Industries, GPS Hauling, Red Box Plus Dumpsters, Goldey Plumbing, Marie’s Kozy Korner, Selective Vending Services, Area Fence Enclosures Co., Ray Litwin HVAC and Bayard Pump and Tank Company.
