As part of Pennsylvania American Water’s pipeline maintenance program, the company will be temporarily changing its disinfection treatment process in the greater Yardley system from a chloramine (combined) residual to free chlorine residual. Customers may notice an increase in the taste and smell of chlorine in the water as a result of the change. This will only be temporary while they complete this system maintenance. The free chlorine residual treatment change will take place beginning August 14, 2023, and will transition back to a chloramine residual on October 23, 2023. Weather permitting, Pennsylvania American Water also will be flushing fire hydrants from August 14, 2023 through November 1, 2023. Discolored water may occur during flushing. This is normal and will only be temporary while they complete this system maintenance.
